This Christmas, we have a romance for you to cozy up with. If you happen to see this before your Christmas dinner, I hope you can read it. It has my highest recommendations.
I first heard of this book through a wrap up by WithCindy. The premise immediately interested me, so I put it on my TBR. If you’re interested, Cindy’s channel is below.

Review
The prose is good. Accessible and easy to read.
The story is told in Ellie’s point of view. First person present is one of my favorite point of views. However, a pitfall when it comes to first person POV is that you’re only in one character’s head. Because of this, you don’t get to see how the other characters go through the story. I didn’t feel this way with this story. Since the cast of characters is constantly with Ellie, we get to see a lot more of them.
The romance is really cute. There’s a lot of tension due to the miscommunication. The one thing I appreciate about this romance is the fact that there’s an attempt at communication rather than the miscommunication feeling odd. The miscommunication feels natural.
This is an instalove. I tend not to enjoy this trope, but these ladies have so much chemistry. It feels like their love story occurs throughout several weeks at least. They’re adorable.
The pacing is good. It’s not too fast or too slow.
The themes are well explored. They’re given enough time on the page. Themes of friendship, mental health, and found family are the biggest ones.
The characters are amazing. I love our leading ladies individually and as a couple.. I love everyone else, too. While we mostly spend time with Ellie, everyone has their own lives, personalities, and arcs. The family dynamics are also amazing.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a great story. It’s one of the best I’ve read this year. I rate it five stars.
