Before We Begin
I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it here, but I love podcasts. I typically don’t review or mention the podcasts I listen to because I haven’t found the best place to do so. For the first time, I’ll be reviewing one. It’s a fictional podcast. Fictional podcasts are similar to TV shows, but in audio form. For this reason, I’ll review it like a show.
Synopsis
Harper Hart has been reliving her twin sister’s death for the last year. She turns to the Lutwidge Wellness Center for Sleep Disorders for an experimental treatment using Blossom, a cutting-edge AI. Things take a turn for the worse when Harper begins entering the dreams of the other patients.
Before Listening
Due to the fact that I don’t review in a specific genre or category, I’ll be providing some relevant information to hopefully guide potential listeners. Note that this is information I gathered from listening to the podcast. While I’ll do my best to provide correct information on genre and category, I recommend researching content warnings.
Genre: Horror
Category: Young adult
Explicit sex: No
Explicit violence: Yes, but it’s not extremely graphic
Content warnings: Trauma
Review
The writing is great. The story develops naturally and none of it feels rushed or tossed in for no reason.
The pacing is great. The first three episodes build up the story and set up everything perfectly.
The themes are explored well. The main one is facing your fears and how it can make you stronger. It touches on others, but they’re side by side with this one.
The characters are well established and have great arcs. They’re very sympathetic. Very easy to love.
There’s a romantic plotline, but it’s a small part of the story. It’s done well. The ending is really sad and I felt for Esme. A tragic romance indeed.
Conclusion
Overall, I love this podcast. The ending suggests there may be a possibility for a second season. I really hope there is. I rated this five stars.
Author’s Note
Hey, everyone! Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed today’s review.
This is a little different from my usual reviews, but it felt right to discuss this podcast. I had a great time listening to it. I finished the majority of it in the early morning of a Sunday, staying up until 2:00 AM. I can’t remember the last time I stayed up binging a show.
For this podcast, headphones are recommended. This way, you can really immerse yourself in the nightmares.
My video review for this podcast will be out in 2023. To be the first to see it, subscribe to my channel. I usually post on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 5:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. This way, you have something to watch when you wake up. To get you started, here’s my Blind Reviews series.
